In 2006 Lorraine Brown Hennings conveyed her property known as "the Flats" in Sierra City to Sierra County. It was desire that the property, which had been known as Sierra City Park since the early 1980s, would officially become a park to for the benefit, use, and enjoyment of the children of Sierra City.

The park has been wonderfully improved, with great features such as new playground equipment, a new baseball backstop & bases, a drinking fountain, a horseshoe pit, new sturdy picnic tables, benches and barbecue grills for all to use and enjoy.

The official dedication ceremony, in memory of Lorraine Brown Hennings, will be this Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. All are welcome to come and celebrate-- we hope you will be able to attend.

The improvements to the community park have been funded with Proposition 40 funds, more formally known as the California Clean Water, Clean Air, Safe Neighborhood Parks, and Coastal Protection Act of 2002.

Again, we hope to see you there!
