Looking for an old-fashioned family holiday adventure?  Consider a family outing into the forest to cut your own beautiful Christmas tree! The Tahoe National Forest Yuba River Ranger District will sell 200 Christmas tree cutting permits from November 22 through December 24 or until permits are sold out at two locations, one in Downieville and one in Sierra City, CA.

The non-refundable permits are $10 each with a limit of two per family and are valid up to and including December 24. Permits must be purchased in person using either cash or a check.

CUTTING IS ALLOWED IN DESIGNATED AREAS ONLY. Permit purchasers will receive maps to designated cutting areas along with other information about choosing a tree.  Certain cutting areas may be inaccessible after snowfall, so it is advisable to cut trees early in the season.

Come up to Sierra County and experience a fun-filled day of cutting your own holiday tree and viewing the beautiful scenery along Hwy. 49!
